How to Set Up and Achieve Goals?
In the previous article, there were Five Reasons why setting up goals is important?
There is an effective way to set up goals that you will actually achieve.
Different life aspects
The first thing you need to do is know which aspects of your life would you like to improve?
Name the categories, like:
Family
Finances
Job/Business
Friends
Health
Personal development
Finish these columns with life aspects that are important to you…
This is how to create categories and determine what you want to achieve in each category.
Most people stop at this step.
They think: Ok, I wrote them down, it’s done.
It isn’t. you have poor chances of succeeding by doing only this step. To actually succeed in achieving your goals, you need to take actions.
Actions
So, the second thing you need to do is look at your columns. Then look at all of your goals and results you want to get and recognize what action steps you need to take. I have to be honest with you here: It’s not just visualization and meditation. There are action steps you need to take.
Chances are, those are things that are way out of your comfort zone.
If you want to earn more money, you need to invest, learn more and educate yourself, take risks – you know, do something about it.
Suppose you want to have a better relationship with your partner. In that case, you need to break the old routines, care about the sparkle, talk more with each other and communicate better…
And you can continue like this for all of your goals.
Examples for action
Let’s take as an example: “My goal is to expand my circle of friends. I want to be surrounded by like-minded, positive people.”
To achieve this goal, you need to take actions that are out of your comfort zone. Just do something different. You need to join a class about something, or start to go to the gym/ or switch gyms. Maybe you should join a yoga club or participate in group coaching groups. Depending on what your interests are you should choose the new environment. And after that, you need to make connections, invite people somewhere, show interest in their lives – you get the picture.
Those are things you are not doing at the moment. You need different results for your goal to be achieved. That means implementing new actions. There is a simple way to get yourself to do some action.
Habits
Only a decision to achieve a goal is not enough. You need to adapt your behavior first. That means you need new useful habits.
Look at your actions during the day. Are you constantly checking your phone or watching too much Netflix? Do you start your day with emails the minute you wake up? Do you read at least one book a month?
All of these actions prevented you so far from achieving bigger goals in your life.
So, what do you do in step 3? You start changing your habits. It takes 30-60 days to form a new habit.
Oh, wait. I didn’t tell you so far that there is no magic wand in achieving your goals and getting what you want? Well, there isn’t.
You need to invest time and effort to come to a better place in life.
You need to invest 30 to 60 days in creating a new useful habit that will make taking actions to become easy and natural.
Beliefs
There is a fourth thing too. Not just that you need to change habits, you need to deal with your beliefs as well.
If your beliefs are that:
* you are not disciplined
* you are constantly failing
*everyone else can, but you can’t
*you need more education, courses, books or luck…
– that will get in the way of taking action. How can you make yourself do the actions if you believe that you will fail in the end?
So, the fourth thing is changing beliefs. How do you do that?
- Guided meditations for reprogramming your mind
- Changing the way you talk about yourself
- Use affirmations (but only those that resonate with you and make you feel good)
- Visualize yourself that you are already there.
When you put all these in place: setting up goals, determining the actions, adopting useful habits, and changing the beliefs of what you are capable of – you provide yourself with a process that you can follow.
Keep in mind that you will not get any results by going to the gym 5 or 6 times.
The same is with personal development. You can’t get amazing results in your life by doing something only a few times.
But if you commit, I can guarantee you: you will achieve anything you want.
I am proudly serving with my experience to be the evidence of that.
(In my Kickstart to be in control of your life program, I am teaching you in 5 Masterclasses how to achieve this: Goals- Actions – Habits – Beliefs. You can get information here about how you can participate. Important note: I am not telling you that you NEED a course to do all that is in this article. Of course you can follow the steps and get there on your own. I am just feeling obligated to tell you that there is an easier option to do this, getting there faster, having a lot of fun on the way in a group of amazing women)
